Told you need a full knee replacement? You may have options.
Upload a photo of your knee X-ray for a free AI-assisted check. In under a minute you'll see whether a smaller operation — a partial knee replacement or a kneecap-only replacement — could be worth discussing with Dr Oosthuizen.
Not a diagnosis. Not for emergencies.
This screening is preliminary and is an adjunct to in-person clinical care, not a substitute for it. It does not replace a consultation, a physical examination, a radiology report or a treatment plan.
If you have severe pain, an inability to bear weight, fever, signs of infection, or any medical emergency, contact emergency services (10177) or go to your nearest emergency unit.
Upload your X-ray
A phone photo or scan works. One front-view X-ray is enough to get started.
AI takes a first look
Uses the KOGS grading system developed by Dr Oosthuizen to gauge how far your arthritis has progressed.
Dr Oosthuizen reviews it
You get a real answer from the surgeon — not just a computer — in your consultation.
You'll be asked to sign in or create a free account first so we can save your result and share it with the clinic securely.

Orthopaedic emergencies outside consulting hours
If you experience an orthopaedic emergency outside of consulting hours, please report immediately to the Casualty Department at either Johannesburg Surgical Hospital (JSH) or Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital for assessment and treatment. The casualty doctors will provide the necessary emergency care and arrange specialist orthopaedic referral if required.
