Partial Knee Replacement in Specific Careers
Most patients return to demanding careers; timing depends on physical loading and kneeling demands.
Nursing, teaching and retail (lots of standing, moderate walking): return at 4–6 weeks part-time, full duties at 6–8 weeks.
Trades (electricians, plumbers, carpenters) and emergency services (paramedics, firefighters, police): return at 8–12 weeks for full duties, depending on kneeling and lifting demands. Light duties or restricted roles can usually start earlier.
Heavy manual roles (construction, agriculture, mining): 12 weeks minimum, sometimes longer. Pilots and cabin crew have specific aviation medical requirements — we can supply the necessary reports. We tailor advice and certificates to your role at your follow-up appointments.
